The main objective of the project is to create a <strong>Community involvement in the rehabilitative action for prisoners<\/strong>, through cooperation between local businesses and the penal institution: <strong>a social operation<\/strong> which puts the person, including prisoners, at the centre, offering them all <strong>The rehabilitative and inclusive potential of work<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The project <\/em><strong><em>Free to cultivate<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013 <\/em>explains <strong>Domenico Minervini, Director of Cuneo Prison<\/strong><em> \u2013 create a professional work opportunity for inmates at the Cuneo House of Detention, which has seen an increase of around 90 inmates in the past year due to the opening of a second pavilion for medium-security prisoners. It starts with the hiring of 7 inmates, but it is hoped that this number can increase further.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>This is an important response to the strong demand for work that inmates constantly highlight: this significant achievement complements the already existing enhancement of professional work opportunities offered by the internal bakery, managed by the cooperative. <\/em><strong><em>Toast<\/em><\/strong><em>, reorganised to accommodate a greater number of employed inmates. With such interventions, it is possible to speed up the rotations in so-called \u201cdomestic\u201d work for the Prison Administration, in some cases also professional, in others not, but a useful opportunity for those inmates who have less ability and reliability: by responding better and faster to internal labour demand, the level of internal tension within the institution is lowered. These projects do nothing but confirm the entrepreneurial vocation of the Cuneo territory, always attentive to social issues. It is a source of pride for me to strengthen these forms of fruitful collaboration!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a <strong>a territory with a strong vocation for agricultural production <\/strong>like the Cuneo area, <em>\u201c<\/em><strong><em>Free to Grow\u201d<\/em><\/strong> aims to build a bridge between people preparing for socio-occupational reintegration and the productive world, to achieve a more <strong>effective social rehabilitation of prisoners<\/strong>, so important for the <strong>reduction of recidivism<\/strong>. It is a project that represents a <strong>concrete opportunity<\/strong> for prisoners to train and have the prospect of a subsequent <strong>job placement in the two project companies<\/strong>, who also undertake to <strong>placing and valorising productions<\/strong> of this initiative through its sales and catering channels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the presence of the <strong>Mayor of Cuneo<\/strong>, <strong>Patrizia Manassero,<\/strong> the new was inaugurated <strong>200sqm greenhouse <\/strong>of the Cuneo Correctional Facility, which will be used along with further<strong> 800m\u00b2 open field<\/strong> to produce <strong>tomatoes, courgettes, leafy vegetables, blueberries and raspberries. <\/strong>Among the authorities present at the event was the Deputy Mayor of Cuneo, <strong>Luca Serale<\/strong>, the Councillor for Social Policies of Cuneo, <strong>Paola Olivero<\/strong>, the Questore of Cuneo, <strong>Carmine Rocco Grassi<\/strong>, the Bishop of Cuneo<strong>, Piero Delbosco<\/strong>, the Piedmont Region Provveditore of the Penitentiary Police<strong>, Rita Russo<\/strong> and the Director of Agriculture and Food of the Piedmont Region<strong>, Paolo Balocco<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019<strong>OP Joinfruit <\/strong>will put<strong> <\/strong>available all its agronomic expertise: a <strong>An experienced agricultural technician will follow up and train the inmates.<\/strong>, teaching him a professional skill that will give him the opportunity to find employment, possibly even at Joinfruit itself. <strong>Open Baladin Cuneo, <\/strong>will commit to purchasing the vegetables, discussing with the agronomist who will be overseeing the vegetable garden, in order to <strong>planning the ideal mix<\/strong> so that it can generate a harvest as much as possible in line with local supply needs <strong>with the aim of actively contributing to the project's economic sustainability<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWe are convinced that projects such as <\/em><strong><em>Free to Cultivate<\/em><\/strong><em> may promote the development of a more peaceful, inclusive society characterised by shared well-being<\/em> - comment <strong>Bruno Sacchi, Director of Joinfruit<\/strong>. <em>\u201cSocial farming is an important tool for rehabilitation and training, an opportunity for inmates to acquire skills, but above all dignity and prospects for a new beginning.
