News and surprises for the fourth edition of the initiative “A break with fruit: what good it does you!” of the’OP Joinfruit of Verzuolo with the FAI-Castle of Manta: from 21 July to 6 August, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, art and agriculture meet for three event weekends, designed to make the fruits of Piedmont's art and territory known and appreciated.
“One of the main objectives of our PO - explains Bruno Sacchi, Director of Joinfruit – is the valorisation of our producers, who strive every day to bring top-quality fruit into consumers‘ homes, respecting the territory and people's wellbeing. This initiative is doubly important for us, because it allows us to stimulate healthy eating habits in our community through the promotion of a conscious consumption of fresh seasonal fruit and, at the same time, it allows us to highlight the ’fruits” of our farmers' labour, in a historical moment that is as complex as ever for the fruit and vegetable sector. We would like to thank FAI-Castello della Manta for this collaboration which, through the art-agriculture combination, aims to bring the people of our community closer to the unique heritage that is fruit, a source of health for people and a symbol of the commitment and passion of our producers."
And taking the stage for three consecutive weekends at Castello della Manta will be precisely the fruit: all visitors wishing to stop for a moment of relaxation in the castle garden on Saturday and Sunday (22 and 23 July, 29 and 30 July and 5 and 6 August) will receive complimentary a mixed pack of seasonal fresh fruit, which, depending on the season, will consist of apricots, peaches, plums, the very special Ramassin, (small, sweet plums grown in the Bronda Valley and recognised with the Slow Food Presidium) and fruit juices “Joinfruit Fresh”, made exclusively from cold-pressed seasonal fresh fruit at 100%, a processing method that preserves the natural taste of the fruit as well as its valuable nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
In the evenings of Friday 28 July and Friday 4 August, from 7.30 p.m. to 11 p.m, within the programme of FAI Summer Evenings - Picnics at Sunset, the same delicious and fresh homage will still make more pleasant picnic time in the garden of the Castello della Manta.
And the surprises don't end there: the Joinfruit OP, in its commitment to highlighting the area's excellent products and promoting a healthy and correct diet, offers visitors to the Castello della Manta three different proposals for learning about and appreciating fruit in a different way.
- Friday 21 July fruit will be the protagonist of a event to be enjoyed. From 6.45 p.m. to 8 p.m. the cellar Sansilvestro of Novello (CN) will guide visitors on a journey of taste made up of tastings and guided pairings between wine and fruit. The tasting will be accompanied by the sweet notes of the Sister Arch, a string trio composed of three students from the Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo, Eleonora Cavigliasso (first violin), Ilaria Bogetti (second violin) and Samantha Boglio (cello), who will perform an original rendition of modern pieces in a classical key.
“The combination of fruit and wine - explains Paolo Sartirano, CEO of Sansilvestro - is a must for Piedmont, because it marries two of the most important excellences of our region: it is a match that few take advantage of, but it is ideal for aromatic wines. We are happy to participate with Joinfruit and FAI-Castello della Manta in this event that has now become a tradition, because it allows us to create a symphony composed of the aromatic notes of our wines, the taste and freshness of the fruit, the marvels of art and the melodies proposed by Sister Arch, for a unique concert that will involve all the senses of the audience present.”
(Places are limited and reservations are required to participate: write an e-mail to: faimanta@fondoambiente.it)
- Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July will be days dedicated to children, with a special area for children and their nutrition education: from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. children will be provided with many colouring pictures full of important information about fruit, to learning to eat healthy while having fun.
- Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August, from 11 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., visitors to Castello della Manta who stop in the garden, along with complimentary fruit and juices, will have the opportunity to participate in a fun surprise game, with many fruit-related gifts.
“Fruit represents an identity value of this area of Piedmont that is extraordinarily vocated to fruit growing. - concludes Bruno Sacchi – and we are convinced that this initiative, realised by our PO thanks to the contribution of the European Union and the support of UNAPROA (National Union of Fruit, Vegetable, Citrus and Nuts Producers” Organisations), is fundamental to enhancing a healthy, delicious product that is an expression of the history and culture of the region to which we belong.”
