Always committed to pursuing inclusive commercial choices, the’OP Joinfruit of Verzuolo (CN) lance the new ready-made tomato and basil sauce under the brand name Joinfruit Fresh, a unique product born from collaboration with local businesses and distinguished by the value journey it represents.
In fact, the sauce is made with tomatoes grown by Cascina Pensolato, a social agricultural cooperative from Fossano (CN) that supports the integration into the world of work and social life of detainees and individuals in situations of social vulnerability, which in turn is part of the cooperative Nature Grow of Saluzzo, one of Joinfruit's member companies.
The processing of tomatoes into sauce is done in collaboration with The Virginio Donadio Institute (CN), and more specifically with the’Donadio Hotelier Institute of Dronero, thanks to the participation of the teachers and students of the “Avaso, an innovative project by the Institute involving ex-convicts, migrants, people with disabilities and people with experience of social exclusion in the production of processed food from local fruit and vegetables.
“The idea of marketing our ready-made tomato and basil sauce – says Bruno Sacchi, Director of Joinfruit – it arises from the desire to create an ever closer bond with the territory and to enhance the people who are part of it. It is from this goal of circularity that the collaboration with the Alberghiero of Dronero is born, which follows the already established social agriculture experience in the Cuneo Prison for the “Free to Cultivate”and to the one with the Social Agricultural Cooperative“The Wild Cherries”in Verzuolo for the preparation of our line of extra fruit jams. The idea is to create a network in the region that places social inclusion and the valorisation of skills at its centre, and which also allows us to build a short and transparent supply chain, in which every step is characterised by a strong sense of community and sustainability. The tomato and basil sauce is not simply a new product added to the Joinfruit Fresh line, but a further sign of our commitment to building a sustainable network in the region.”
The sauce is prepared using a special machine, the concentrator, which allows for a cold-concentrated tomato passata to be produced, thus preserving the fresh flavour and natural colour of the product. Subsequently, the sauce is enhanced with salt, garlic, onion, and basil, and packaged in 180-gram jars, which are then pasteurised.
“The Donadio Hotel Management Institute of Dronero – adds the Professor Patrizia Venditti, Head Teacher of the Donadio Institute – has always positioned itself as a benchmark for the region, not only in the training of future generations of hospitality and catering professionals, but also in the research, development, and enhancement of local food and wine excellences. Through constant collaboration with businesses, local authorities, and trade associations, our institute promotes innovation in the sector, combining tradition with new technologies, and sustainability with creativity. Our commitment is to continue to be a bridge between education and the world of work, ensuring quality, innovation, and tradition in the hospitality sector.”
